How to be great

This is a really interesting post about a study of violinists.  The difference between the practice habits of the average and the great players makes me think about how to best organize my days between writing, jewelry, etc.,and further how to divide up the writing between working on my books and working on freelance articles. What does it say to you about how to organize your day?

To be elite: Put in the hours, devoting yourself to two sessions a day of complete and deliberate focus. When you’re done, be done. Go enjoy the rest of the day. (And as a side effect, feel more relaxed).

Awesome August Attainments!

Yes, my title is purposefully cheesy 🙂  I’m having a good month so far.  Here’s a few of the things that I’ve done:

  • Completed the first draft of my second book
  • Swam a mile and a half in one training session
  • Got Chris hooked on iced coffee
  • Had an incredibly successful trip to a consignment sale and bought winter clothes for both kids for an amazing price.
  • Got back into the habit of meal planning and tracking.

And it’s only the 9th!  It’s going to be a great month!

Blah!

How come when I’m sick I crave unhealthy food? Sinus infection? I know it’s serious when I am unable to control the chocolate and peanut butter cravings. It’s a migrain if I crave salty, greasy food, like deep dish pepperoni pizza.

It would make more sense to me to crave veggies and fruits and other healthy foods. Is it just me?

Onederland

For those of you who don’t know, I’m a contestant in WSMV/Subway Get Fit Challenge this spring.  You can check out my page here. It’s fun- I love my trainer, and I’ve discovered Zumba which is just about the greatest thing since sliced bread (speaking of bread, I’ve been eating a lot of Subway, and I’ve gotta say- the bread is incredible!).

I’m watching The Biggest Looser right now, and everyone was home for two weeks, and all are loosing 10+ pounds in two weeks.  I’m not loosing weight that quickly, and I think I should be!  I know, I know, their lives are not mine.  But…Onederland is in my sights.  I haven’t been there since I was about 5 months pregnant with Lily, but I WILL GET BACK!

BTW- I have another dr’s appointment for my arm a week from tomorrow.  Pray that the bone is solid, so I can go back to yoga, start lifting with my arms (besides Austin & Lily) and start riding bike OUTSIDE!
