Yeah for 2011!

I thought up this little ditty while freezing my tukas off this afternoon.  Sing to the tune of Prince’s 1999.  Enjoy!

Two zero one zero is over it’s out of time

So today lets rollerblade like it’s nineteen ninety five

nineteen ninety five

I rollerbladed just over five miles through my neighborhood and the attached sudivision.  I haven’t been for more than two years, and I felt like a little kid again!

The Pilates Lifestyle: Making the commitment

Happy New Year!  2011 is here and it’s time to think about what you want from the year.  I’m not talking about making lofty goals or resolutions, just really thinking about what you want this year to bring.

Last year, I decided to choose a word for the year to help me focus on what I wanted.  My word for 2010 was “Intention.”  Through the year I strived to live with intention, creating my life rather than reacting to it.

Intention may be my word for 2011 too.  I’m still mulling it over, along with the words “Health” and “Bravery.”  Which ever word I settle on, I will use 2011 to create a healthy life, making the brave decisions when they are the right, but not easy, ones.

One of my brave, but not so easy decisions, is the e-course I’m starting on www.thePilatesLifestyle.com today.  Last year I wrote a book about integrating Pilates into everyday life.  While my book isn’t yet available commercially, I am ready to start sharing it’s message, and I would love if you would join me.

Watch

My watch battery died. About four months ago. I finally went to Target to get it replaced, and the don’t do that anymore. Of course.

On the bright side, I have a reason to shop! I’ve decided I’m going to get a battery-free watch. Go back in time and get one that winds. I’ll post the options I find!

If i had a million dollars

Remember that BareNaked Ladies song? Well, here’s a few thing I would do:

Quit my day job
Buy some great photo editing software
Sign my kids up for 9-3 daycare everyday (this would give them consistency and I would only miss a few waking hours with them since 12-3 is nap time)
Write everyday with a latte
Pay off my house
Take pictures every day
Open a wellness studio offering yoga, Pilates, massage, clothing and jewelry
Get some samples made for my clothing line
Self publish my children’s books for my children

Why I’m not attempting NaNoWriMo this year…but you should

Last year I signed up for NaNoWriMo in the hopes of starting and finishing my first novel. I started it, but I did not finish it for 9 months. I now have a VERY rough draft of said novel, but haven’t done much with it since. I do intend to finish it some time, but that’s not on the calendar yet.

I decided not to sign up this year, because I have a bit too much going on to commit to one more thing. I’m settling for smaller goals- like working out a few times a week, getting to work every day, and following my low-iodine diet so my taste buds are not zapped into oblivion with my cancer. Instead of participating in NaNo, I will commit to writing every day. Not any certain number of words or for any grandiose goal, but just so that I’m continuing to write, even on the days when all I want to do is sleep.

However, that said, I think you should seriously consider signing up for it. It’s a huge goal, but a totally attainable one. One that I know I could meet now that I know just how quick you can get the approximately 1667 words per day on the page. I’ll be your cheerleader, if you tell me about it. Good luck!

I’ve got a confession to make

I’ve been moonlighting on another blog. www.soihavecancer.blogspot.com. When I first found out about the cancer I needed an outlet, but wasn’t sure if I was going to go public with the having of said cancer. Obviously I did, but I’m still keeping it a bit separate from my real life. But it’s there if you want to check it out.
