I’m Flying

I made a huge change today. After
several months of struggle, I gave my two weeks notice at the job I’ve had for just over four years. I don’t know for sure what’s next. But I do know that I’ve been unhappy and unhealthy there for way too long.

Here’s what I do know:

  1. I am going to be writing more. More here, more on my novels, and hopefully a few things that can make me some money.
  2. I am going to be creating. My jewelry will be for sale soon. I’m working on a commissioned series of paintings for a friend.
  3. I am excited. I’m a little scared, because it’s not like me to not have a solid plan.
  4. I know I made the right decision.
  5. I’m reading Living in the Sacred Now by Kim Thomas. In the introduction she talks about the flying trapeze- how you have to let go of one bar at just the right time to grab the next. You can’t hold both bars at the same time. You must fly.

    I am flying.

Can you cook a month at a time?

A good friend and I were talking about this at church on Sunday morning, then I saw thispost.  Maybe it’s a sign?  I don’t know if I’m organized enough to cook a month at a time.  I’ve been doing 3-4 days each weekend, but this is starting to get intriguing.

(And, by the way, I spelled intriguing correctly all by my self on the first try without using spell check.  Very exciting for me, I had to share.)

Awesome August Attainments!

Yes, my title is purposefully cheesy 🙂  I’m having a good month so far.  Here’s a few of the things that I’ve done:

  • Completed the first draft of my second book
  • Swam a mile and a half in one training session
  • Got Chris hooked on iced coffee
  • Had an incredibly successful trip to a consignment sale and bought winter clothes for both kids for an amazing price.
  • Got back into the habit of meal planning and tracking.

And it’s only the 9th!  It’s going to be a great month!

The kids first hike

We took the kids to Radnor Lake tonight for their first hike.  We did just a short hike- the first half of the Ridge trail down to the Lake trail.

Two lovely deer greeted us as we started the hike.

Lily and Austin each almost slid down the side of the hill a few times, we made them start holding hands and everything got better.

We all made it out safely, including the wood tick that hitched a ride home with Austin.  Can’t wait for the weather to cool off so we can go more often!
